Sharing with others daily words, thoughts and meditations that bring myself hope and renewal during my own daily battles and frustrations with COPD/Asthma.  Sharing, because as we all know – without that horizon of hope, our daily renewal of faith and fight can dim in a hurry.

Take, read, meditate and hopefully find some of the same hope in your day as I have within mine…..

The Word – “Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness.  But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”  (Hebrews 5: 12-14, NIV)

The Thought – Often, those who fight a daily battle with a disability or chronic illness get so caught up in living for just today, that we forget to continue our growth as a person and as a person of knowledge when it comes to our disability or chronic illness.

We get so busy battling our illness or disability that we forget that we should always be in a growth mode as life is constantly changing and becoming another learning lesson.

Our growth should always continue for more than just working on overcoming our situation itself, but to also grow within ourselves to be the person the Great Spirit wants us to be.

Beyond our illness or disability, we need to continue working on us, finding the path for which we can best use our strengths and abilities.

For instance, if you are very good at a foreign language, maybe you can continue to grow that ability by not only studying the language some more but maybe to reach out beyond your own life and help others that may be interested in learning the language.

Do you have an ability to make kids happy, calm, interested – then grow that ability by working with kids, because we all know kids that need mentoring and how much more satisfying can it get than to work with a kid for even a short period of time, and then be blessed with their friendship for life.

If you fill unfulfilled in the heart, mind or spirit – don’t let your disability or illness get in the way of growth, take some classes on subjects of interest or for the heart and spirit, join a study involving faith and reality of the Great Spirit.

Once there was a line that rolled off the tongue and heard by so many that made a reference to ‘a person will wither if they do not continue to learn’, and that is so very true.  Physically, if we do not keep working the muscles and tendons our bodies will become limp, weak and soft.  So too is our mind, heart and spirit – if we do not continue to work at growing the mind, heart and spirit then life will just wither away and we will only finish unfulfilling the abilities the Great Spirit instilled within us, but we will also finish out life without finding hope, faith, love and grace.

The Meditation – Great Spirit, we thank you for all that surrounds us as we continue our travels of life.  We thank you for giving us the strength and tenacity to get through those battles we have with our disabilities or illnesses.  Great Spirit, let us watch for guidance so that we may find those opportunities in life that we can use to grow our minds, hearts and spirit.  May we use those opportunities to help us grow beyond our outer appearance and battles so that we can not only find, but share the joys of hope, faith, love and grace.
