MEDITATIONS FOR THE CHRONICALLY ILL

By William

In recollecting about my own daily battles and frustrations with health issues such as heart, depression, and lungs (COPD & Severe Asthma), I was thinking about those time periods when things were running better during times when meditations and prayers were part of my routine.

With effort being made to make 2021 a strong year for myself and those who travel life with me, I am determined to get back into a regular routine of doing meditations and prayers.

What better way to share than with words of hope, faith, love and grace while they also renew us during our daily fights with unrelenting and frustrating chronic illnesses.

So here we have our DAILY THOUGHT, SPIRITUAL WORD, and VOICE OF HOPE:

THE THOUGHT:

Today it comes from that wonderful writer Helen Steiner Rice =

‘Happiness

Is just a state of mind.

Within the reach of everyone

Who take the time to be kind.

THE SPIRITUAL WORD:

Today’s Spiritual Word comes from the Bible and the book of Proverbs 14:31 =

“He who oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors Him.”

THE VOICE OF HOPE:

For today, over an beyond our own battles with a chronic illness, may we find and take the time to befriend a co-worker, friend, family member, or a neighbor.

Maybe, if physically possible, we can volunteer to drive an elderly or disable person for a medical appointment or offer to either cook or order in a meal for an individual who just returned home from the hospital.

To be kind to the needy and understand the positive feeling that comes from within is important in our own dealing and healing with whatever our chronic illness may be.
