WEATHER, ADULT FAMILY & DEADLINES

By William (for wheezingaway.com)

Yes, life can be messy. What is messy for you may not be the same as messy for your neighbor, your other family members or even your spouse or partner.

For those of us walking life with the companionship of chronic illness, messy many times takes a whole other angle or trajectory.

Messy for me the past couple of weeks and likely for a few more weeks is the weather.

I am one, despite my lung issues, who thrives in colder weather for some reason and this year, I am still looking forward to our winter.

With me, winter is more than just a few days of cold (like 30 degree) daytime weather – it needs to be like a week to ten days of day temps below 30 and nighttime temps as low as -5 degree weather.

I am one that believes that longer cold stretches clear out the air of junk, making it less likely for people to be getting sick.

Instead, we are having weeks like this past seven days where we have had a few days of 40-45 degree day weather mixed in around a few days of 80-95 degree weather.

Recently I talked to a medical facility about rescheduling an appointment and asked the lady if sickness was up for this time of the seasons and she immediately said ‘yes, influenza A & B plus COVID was higher that the past several years.’ No wonder I do not go out much.

Messy can be family. We have five adult children aged by the end of the year 50, 50, 48, 47, and 45. Of the five, only one has given us much to not worry about.

The other four have issues for which I will not pursue here, but one of them I can say is why I still have Christmas lights on.

Yes, I said Christmas lights!! On a small Christmas tree in our TV room the lights continue to glow 24/7 – until one of our adult children comes for the visit they promised us at Thanksgiving and Christmas. All I need to say here.

I am a writer, I have not just my website where this column of ‘Snaz & I for Today’ is found, but a website dedicated to the small high school sports of our greater county area.

I also write for an area monthly newspaper, and the local weekly paper – both doing sports coverage the best I can for being apart from crowds due to chronic illness.

So, I have deadlines needing to be met, readers happy or sad (mostly because I charge a fee of $2/month for the area website) while all the while trying to find time to work on several books.

Yes, daily and weekly life can and will get messy – especially when you are not sure how your will feel or be physical day to day.

What do I do then – I sit back in my recliner with some soft jazz and consider how grateful I am for what I do have.

These past few days I am grateful to a friend of over 60 years for keeping me informed at the people at another friend’s celebration of life for their late wife.

I am grateful every day for my puppy Frosty Lou and my wife, friend, caretaker – Linda. Without those two I really am not sure how I would make it.

What or who are you grateful for today??

PLAN FOR THE MAN…..

Well, I do believe it is time to grab my trusty 28-oz. cup of ‘dirty water’, kick my shoes off and enjoy some time with my awesome caretaker – better known as the wife.

So that is it with where Snaz & I are for this day of March 23, 2026.

Until next time I hope all is well and well is with all…..

Good day, big smiles, bunches of gratitude, and steady breathing – SHALOM, William

ALWAYS REMEMBER (because I have COPD and severe Asthma) – If you or anyone you know have any symptoms involving lung and breathing functionality, and they linger over and over while disrupting a lifestyle – then please ask questions and get it checked out.
